For my final project I decided to make a 3d printed stream deck. I like to stream to my friends and I figures this would be a great way to upgrade my stream without breaking the bank. I was able to implement an Arduino pro micro into my design which counted as one machine. For the others I used my 3d printer and the schools laser cutter.
Research/Preparation
With so many different stream decks on the market it was not hard to find some inspiration for my won. I Started my search on YouTube and found some different videos of people building their own. However many of them implemented a touch screen which I was not planning on doing as I wanted mine to be simple but useful. Since this was a somewhat simple build I had most of the materials at my house already but I did need to get cherry mx switches, acrylic sheet, and an Arduino pro micro.
Design Process
I decided to use fusion 360 to begin my design because that is the program I am most familiar with. I started by sketching out and designing my whole housing including the laser cut parts.
I needed to design 2 different parts for my project. This consisted of a housing for all the electronics and the base plate to hold all of the keys in place.
Construction
I needed to use 2 different machines to build my parts. The first machine I used was a 3d printer. I started by printing my housing out.
Next I needed to cut out the base plate
Next I had to solder all of my keys to the Arduino.
Finally I had to assemble the Unit and program the Arduino
